The Power of Speaking Up

This exhibition has been a dream for over a decade. I grew up in the shadow of the effects of child sexual abuse. And, when I sought help, I found caring survivors with personal histories that broke my heart and healed it at the same time. I went from superficial acknowledgement of the horror of child sexual abuse to recognizing the never-ending ways in which a single act of abuse can continue to harm someone over a lifetime and beyond.
I came to understand that child sexual abuse continues because we look away from that horror. It's distasteful to think about. It's ugly. Looking makes us feel complicit.
But, it's actually LOOKING AWAY that makes us complicit. Not looking at the acts; Looking at the harm done. All the infinite wounds. Every moment of a life lost to suffering. Every choice taken away. Every piece of it.
And, in seeing the full depth of harm brought about by each abusive act, against so many innocent and vulnerable children, it should become impossible to allow it to continue.
It has suddenly became obvious that the time is NOW. Look around the world. Please join us in speaking your truth, having your say, and using your power to change the future for children.
Hear us NOW!
