The Plan

Updated: 4 days ago

I’m just about to officially launch this website and the corresponding instagram account!  I managed to record an introductory / promotional video this weekend in spite of being solidly a “behind the camera” person.  This seems like the perfect time to share a little more about what is going on behind the scenes and how things are shaping up at the moment.

THE VIBE IS GOOD!

People are excited about this project!  The survivors, therapists, artists, etc. that I've personally shared this plan with are all enthusiastically on board.  Going forward, it's key that this plan is adaptive to the needs of the community as it grows and the first goal is to ensure this is a project we all feel great about.

LET'S DREAM BIG

With more people involved, the concept is growing.  Adding an online gallery, having a DJ at the show, including talks / lectures / workshops, creating free survivor-centered continuing education content for law enforcement & social workers:  these are just a few of the ways we’re looking to broaden the impact.  Imagine how much more we can do if you get involved!

WHO NEEDS TO SEE THIS ART

Besides being open to the public, we plan on inviting lawmakers, members of law enforcement and legal professions, journalists, social workers, healthcare professionals, and any other persons whose work intersects with survivors.  The intention is to center survivors and let them speak for themselves on the biggest platform possible.

The online gallery is critical to creating an enduring and accessible statement. Ideally, it would be used as a resource to deepen understanding of (1) the extensive harms of CSA, (2) the lack of justice and support for survivors; and (3) the urgent need to hold perpetrators accountable.

BEHIND THE SCENES

I'm envisioning a secure, online community of artists (and people who consider themselves to be non-artists*) supporting each other (technically and emotionally) as we all create work around this difficult topic. I have a feeling this is going to be the very best part of the entire project: making art together. 😍

Ultimately, I hope that more people will join me in the organizational and conceptual aspect of this project. I want this project to reflect the community, not just me. You don't need to have prior experience or any special qualifications for any of this. Bring yourself exactly as you are.

And, someone, please, rock the socials for us. 🙏🏽 (see above)

THE SPECIFICS

The exhibition will take place in New York City in Fall 2026. The location hasn't been secured yet, but we have a really exciting prospect. I'll update you as soon as I have more to share.

The call for artists (and people who think they are non-artists*) will be released soon with more details about creating art for this event.

YOU, YES YOU

If this sounds interesting to you, please get involved as an artist, volunteer, or donor!  Or contact us to share your feedback, suggestions, and comments. We're listening!

Let’s all work together to make this happen ❤️
